Things For Baby Boys (A Virtual Baby Shower) - Baby Boy Shoes

5/15/2013 12:05:00 AM

Today I am participating in my first virtual baby shower!!
This is such cool idea!  Laura from Craftstorming invited me, as well as several others, to this baby shower for one of my favourite bloggy friends, Abby, from Things for Boys.  Abby lives in Australia and her blog is simply AWESOME!  Seriously, there is no end to the tutorials and fantastic recipes on her blog.  After visiting here and browsing the cute things we've made and mailed to Abby for her shower, please hop over to Abby's blog - you will be hooked!

Welcome to the baby shower!!
This is a complete surprise for Abby, and I hope she will be thrilled that a few of us fellow blog friends from around the world are getting together today to share in the excitement of the arrival of her newest baby BOY!  All of the gifts have been sent to Ros from Sew Delicious and she's on her way to surprise Abby with all of these handmade items.  Congratulations Abby, enjoy the party :)

And now for the presents, or as they say in Australia - the pressies!

These are the wonderful contributors - please click over to each one and have a look at their gorgeous photos!  There will be plenty of photos and details on each blog.  I believe there might even be some tutorials in the mix.

What I am giving:
I made some cute linen baby shoes.  These were a first for me and I hope you like them Abby.  They... well they didn't work out as I hoped, but are still pretty darn cute.  I made them out of indigo linen, and a natural linen with dots, anchors and sailboats.   They are lined with white cotton and open up really nicely to get baby's foot in.   This is not my own pattern, but one from Lena's Patterns (picture and link at bottom).  Her's look so gorgeous in the photo, but mine are a little... crooked. I hope they stay on those cute baby feet for at least one afternoon...

I couldn't send a gift from Canada to Australia with a touch of Canadian culture.  This is not a beanie, Abby - I know you will want to call it that - but it is a toque!  Canadians wear toques for several months of the year, so we know how to pick them.  Well some people do, but I pick mine too large.  This was the smallest Edmonton Oilers toque they had, but it's our famous hockey team, so your new baby has to have one.  Sadly, over the last few years, they are only famous for losing...shhh!

Here is a link to Lena's Patterns for girls and boys. They are pretty adorable!

Abby, Congratulations to you and your little family on your new arrival.  You already have one gorgeous son and I can't wait to see the new baby.  Enjoy these special days, every moment is a gift!

Take good care!  Now... I need to hop over and see the rest of the presents!!

  3. The baby shoes are so cute Janelle! I certainly didn't notice any crookedness. Haha...I've already called it a beanie, but I will remember to call it a toque from now on. It's almost cold enough to start wearing it ;) Thanks again for this, I feel so special!

  10. Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Chrome. I'm not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I'd post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Thankstip toe walking kids
